Ceballos returns to Arsenal, Arteta praises his decison

Arsenal confirmed that Dani Ceballos has joined the club from Real Madrid for a season-long loan.

The Spain midfielder scored two goals in the last campaign in 36 appearances for the Gunners, helping Mikel Arteta’s side win the FA Cup in July 2019 after entering a temporary deal. He was intriging enough that Arteta wanted him to return to the Emirates Stadium and once again Ceballos chose to spend the season back in north London with plenty of competition for places at Real.

Arteta said: “Dani was an integral part of our team last season and finished the season in excellent form.

“I love Dani’s passion and commitment and he’s a highly skilful player. We’re all delighted to welcome him back and we look forward to seeing him pick up where he left off.”

Despite recorded late interest from former club Real Betis, Ceballos, 24, always seemed likely to plump into the Premier League for yet another time.

He shared on social media his support for Arsenal in last week’s Community Shield during their penalty shootout victory over Liverpool.

Ceballos will not be available to newly-promoted Fulham for the season opener, as he will be forced to quarantine for 14 days in compliance with UK coronavirus laws.

Ceballos’ loan signing follows Willian ‘s earlier free transfer from Chelsea, and the arrival of Lille’s defender Gabriel Magalhaes.
