According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has come to an arrangement for the free transfer of Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain.The London Blues, who have signed winger Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, are reportedly close to completing Bayer Leverkusen ‘s move to Kai Havertz. It appears, however, that Silva will arrive at Stamford Bridge before the international Germany, with manager Frank Lampard clearly mindful of the need to strengthen his back line.
After the Champions League final loss, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel announced that the Ligue 1 title holders were trying to convince the seasoned defender to stay, but appears too late.
A few days earlier, the 35-year-old center-back himself confirmed that Fiorentina was still an option, but Romano says that there is no longer an choice.
Silva has accepted a two-year Chelsea contract offer and the deal is expected to be formally announced within a couple of days.
