Chelsea names Thomas Tuchel as new Manager

The German has been installed as a replacementr for the former Blues midfielder Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

The naming of Thomas Tuchel as the new club manager has been confirmed by Chelsea. Tuchel, who mostly plays 4-3-3 and 4-2-2-2 formation was sacked as coach of PSG in December after winning domestic trophies at Parc de Prince for 2 years.

After the decision to sack Frank Lampard on Monday, the Blues pushed quickly to get the German in.

The 47-year-old will be concerned with reviving the fortunes of a side sitting ninth in the Premier League table, with the probable goal for the remainder of the season being Champions League qualification.

“I would like to thank Chelsea FC for their confidence in me and my staff,” Tuchel said according to the club’s website. “We all have the greatest respect for Frank Lampard’s work and the legacy he created at Chelsea. At the same time, I cannot wait to meet my new team and compete in the most exciting league in football.

“I am grateful to now be part of the Chelsea family – it feels amazing!”
