Mourinho wants a reunion as Diego Costa ‘open’ to Tottenham transfer

According to the Daily Star, Tottenham has been offered the opportunity to sign Diego Costa and the Spaniard is ‘open’ to a move that would see him link up again with Jose Mourinho.

Atletico Madrid, who wants to recover some of the amazing £57 m they paid to rescue the striker from Chelsea in 2017, put Costa up for sale. Since returning to Spain, Costa has struggled for form and fitness, scoring just ten goals in 54 La Liga games after scoring 52 in 89 Premier League games in west London before being told by Antonio Conte that he was in excess of requirements.

He would match Harry Kane ‘s bill for Tottenham back-up, but it is said that the north London club has concerns about investing in a 31-year-old with poor injury record.

Tottenham also exchanged this window for midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and goalkeeper Joe Hart and are close to Matt Doherty ‘s £ 15 m move.

Tottenham are sixth favorites behind Arsenal for the title. They and Jose Mourinho are in for a quiet summer instead of hot.
