Juventus appoints Legend Andrea Pirlo as new coach
The elimination of Juventus from the Champions League 2020 marked the culmination for Maurizio Sarri, and the beginning of a new period under Andrea Pirlo.
While guiding the Bianconeri in 2019-20 to a ninth consecutive Scudetto, Sarri was dismissed after Juve crashed out of the Champions League on Friday to Lyon in the last 16 round.
At the outset of their Series A domination, Pirlo was at the core of Juve’s genius midfield, winning four Scudetti, the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana twice in a four-year period that ended when he moved to New York City in 2015.
Pirlo was awarded the reins of the first team ahead of the 2020-21 season a week after moving to Juve as their Under-23 manager.
