Kostas Tsimikas set to join Liverpool, medicals underway

Liverpool has agreed to sign Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos, and according to several reports, the player is due to arrive at Merseyside to undergo a medical check.

Liverpool has been trying to provide more cover to the left defensive flank and at the same time have some competition for first-choice left-back Andy Robertson. They were in negotiations over Jamal Lewis with Norwich City but the Canaries refused their £10 million bid, seeking twice the amount. The talks lasted for a few days but as it became apparent that no deal had been reached, Liverpool left the discussions and turned their attention to Tsimikas.

At the age of 24, in his creation, the Greek is a little further down the line than Lewis, 22,. He made a total of 46 appearances in all competitions this season, six of them coming in the Champions League and four in the Europa League. He has also been capped for his country three times.

For the amount of € 13 m (£11.7 m), Liverpool can get its services if no hitches appear along the way.
