Man City make £87m whooping offer for Atletico Madrid defender Jose Jimenez

According to a source, Man City has launched a massive offer to sign Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez. Gimenez has been among Europe’s best defenders in recent seasons, impressing at Atletico Madrid under Diego Simeone. The Uruguayan missed most of last season through injury — just making 19 LaLiga launches — but when fit is a vital part of Simeone ‘s defence.
The 25-year-old – recently linked with Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool – has a €120 m buyout clause that no one was willing to pay.

However, Man City – who have already forked out £41 m to sign Nathan Ake from Bournemouth’ – has made an offer to Gimenez for €94 m ( £ 87 m) as they aim to further strengthen their defence, according to Spanish media outlet AS.
The study states that, when they prepare to secure Gimenez this summer, the Citizens have put €89 m on the table plus another €5 m in additional.
Despite bringing in Ake, Pep Guardiola still sees central defense as the ‘chief handicap’ of City and the huge offer is likely to ‘make’ Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin ‘think about it’ due to the current economic situation.
Gimenez is happy at Atletico at the moment, but the report adds that ‘the offer made by City is very good.’
