Man Utd interested in Barca’s Ousmane Dembele and Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic while transfer window closure nears

Manchester United opened talks over Ousmane Dembele with Barcelona. In the dying minutes of the summer transfer window, the Red Devils left it late but have high hopes of making a marquee signing, although on loan, with the club now searching for alternatives for Jadon Sancho.
This week, United made its final take-it-or-leave-it offer for the England winger of about £ 90 million, but Borussia Dortmund, who are not interested in considering anything less than their £100m-plus valuation, snubbed it.

The Old Trafford giants still want to carry Sancho back to the Premier League, probably next season, with a return to sign him, but are now on the lookout for a stop sign in the meantime.
And Sky Sports say United has already entered into talks over a loan deal for Dembele, who is not at the forefront of the Nou Camp plans of Ronald Koeman and may leave the Catalan club on a short-term deal. That change follows the rejection of the United bid for Fiorentina’s Federico.

But Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, who is said to be keen on heading to Old Trafford, may well be brought in by United.

After his £55 m arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer, the 22-year-old Serbian has struggled for regular playing time in Madrid, scoring only two goals in 27 appearances in his first season at the Bernabeu.

Real are willing to let him leave on loan this summer to recover his confidence, Zinedine Zidane having been told he is not in his season plans.

According to the Daily Star, talks with Man United are at a ‘advanced level’ and the player allegedly wishes to join the Premier League side.
And soon, with United set to pay his wages in full, a settlement is planned, although the Red Devils want an option to purchase included in the contract, which Real is currently resisting.

Ed Woodward, meanwhile, is no closer to completing the Alex Telles signing, with United still locked in talks with Porto.

Jovic earned a move to Real Madrid by scoring 27 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2018/19 season, but it’s not worked out for him at the Bernabeu – AFP or licensors

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported that in their player valuations, the two clubs are only £9 m apart, with United seeking to get the player on the cheap knowing that they will agree to sign him in January for free.

The 27-year-old full-back entered into his deal in the final year, and United made a late cut-price step to try to convince Porto to sell, knowing that in only a matter of months they could lose him for nothing.

But time is running out to complete the deal, with pressure on Woodward increasing with recent comments from United legend Gary Neville, who criticised the club’s lack of transfers this summer.

“It’s appalling that in this market which is probably the easiest in PL history to get transfers done that United haven’t done more yet!” he wrote on Twitter.

“They must get Ole a CB, LB and Forward pre deadline! The others are managing to get things over the line why not United!”
