Man Utd’s Jesse Lingard moves to West Ham on loan

After a breakthrough in talks, Jesse Lingard is on the verge of joining West Ham on loan for the rest of the season, Goal can confirm.

At Old Trafford, the attacking midfielder slipped down the pecking order, and although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen to retain Lingard at the club to strengthen his squad in what is likely to be a busy second half of the season, he reluctantly decided to let the 28-year-old midfielder go on loan for the rest of the campaign.

Negotiations have been complicated according to Goal, “but that the two sides came to an agreement late on Thursday where West Ham will pay a £1.5 million ($2.1m) loan fee while covering Lingard’s wages.”

David Moyes’ side won the duel from Sheffield United and West Brom in signing the England international.

Lingard has only made two starts for United this season, which has led to his desire to leave to pursue more regular playing time, Goal stated.
