Tottenham Hotspur’s target Troy Deeney in advanced talks to join PL rival West Brom

With West Brom now leading the chase to sign him from Watford, Tottenham Hotspur could lose out on Troy Deeney this summer.

Football Insider claims the Baggies are in advanced talks to sign Deeney who is searching for new pastures following Watford’s relegation to last season’s championship.

The study says that the Baggies are working on signing Deeney and have made progress in reaching agreement this week on the terms of a deal.

Earlier this week the Daily Mail reported that Watford is ready to unload the striker who scored 133 goals in over 390 appearances in all competitions for them.

Watford has tried to convince Deeney to stay put, but he sees himself as a regular in the Premier League, and as a result the club is now willing to let him go.

Tottenham is allegedly interested in recruiting Deeney. The north London club has explored the prospect of a Watford loan deal as Jose Mourinho is keen to add a back-up striker for Harry Kane.

Last season, the 32-year-old scored 10 Premier League goals and he’d been a good signing for Spurs.

However, as it stands, instead Deeney heads in the direction of West Brom.
